If someone tells you they have been sexually harassed or abused at work
If you are working within an organisation you will have a process or policy to follow. It is important that you are honest about what you will do with the information that has been shared with you. The person who has disclosed to you needs to know that you are trustworthy. Being honest about what will happen with any information that has been shared with you, is an important part of this. Do not make promises you cannot keep particularly where this relates to safeguarding. Purple Leaf work within an empowerment model. This model focuses on being led by what the person making the disclosure wants you to do, providing them with information so that they can be in control (as much as possible) and to make informed choices as to what the next steps might be. Believing, being non-judgemental and being genuine in your response to their disclosure are all vital aspects in your response.
Purple Leaf can provide you with support and guidance to help you with this process.
